margaretvirkusMARGARET VIRKUS began her ballet training in St. Petersburg, Florida. She also studied with notable teachers Alexandra Danilova, Leon Danilian, Valentina Periaslavic, Maria Swoboda and Igor Youskevitch at a variety of schools, and while on scholarships to the American Ballet Theatre School, Pennsylvania Ballet School and the National Ballet School in Washington, D.C.She majored in dance at Texas Christian University, and performed as a soloist with Fort Worth Ballet. In 1985, Ms. Virkus joined the staff of the Fairfax Ballet after teaching at the Washington School of Ballet. She staged the second act of La Sylphide, and choreographed Pas Espagnol, Suite in D/G, Coronation of the Fairy Princess, Paquita, Passage, In the Company of Angels, The Seasons, Holberg Dances, C Minor Concerto, Dumbarton Dances, Time Stood Still, Renaissanc, Kaleidoscope, On the wing, Six Little Dances, The Nutcracker and most recently Fleurs-de-Lis for the Fairfax Ballet.
